Présentation

  • Objectives : Characterize the development of normal and pathological germinal cell lineages, the regulation and differentiation of stem cells, the impact of radiation on nuclear and genetic processes (stability, reparation)
  • Methods : In-vitro and in-vivo approaches. Use of dedicated animal facilities and radiation facilities. Cellular and molecular biology and physiology. Cytometry, proteomics, cellular imaging

Thèmes de recherche

The main interest resides in elucidating the cellular and molecular effects of radiation on adult and fetal stem cells. Studying somatic and germinal stem cells is essential since they have a major impact on the development and maintenance of most organs. They have key roles in acquired and hereditary disease and may be a crucial factor for cellular therapies.

 

Stem cells have two properties particularly important in many public health sectors :

► radiation of stem cells may have long-term pathological consequences

► stem cells have an extraordinary therapeutic potential
