Présentation
Nous sommes une unité mixte de recherche Inserm UMR_S 1134 qui regroupe l’Université Paris Diderot – Paris 7, l’Université de La Réunion et l’Université des Antilles et de la Guyane.
En métropole nous sommes hébergés par l’Institut National de la Transfusion Sanguine (INTS) à Paris, à La Réunion sur le site de l’Université de Saint-Denis de la Réunion, et en Guadeloupe au sein du CHU de Pointe à Pitre.
Thèmes de recherche
The works of the unit concern the clarification of the genic and protein structures of the antigens of blood groups, the molecular analysis of their polymorphisms and the understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in certain hereditary disorders of the erythroïd membrane.
The unit focuses on the properties of human red blood cells (erythrocytes).
Experimental and in-silico methods are used for an integrative approach to the understanding of the interaction between extracellular ligands, transmembrane proteins and the cytoskeleton that define the antigenic properties (e.g. blood group) of erythrocytes.
These interactions are studied in normal and pathological situations (hereditary anemia, malaria, sickle-cell disease) with a particular interest in the structure and function of the plasma membrane of erythrocytes.
